CV 9040 upgrade study
In 2002 upgrade studies for a mid life upgrade program started for the CV 90 family of vehicles. The early studies focused on upgrading of the electronic infra structure so that it would be possible to integrate new sub systems (e.g. IFF-systems). This has resulted in an upgrade of the CV 9040 C with serial deliveries starting 2005. The upgrade will include a video and data network within the turret and integration of a new 3rd generation Thermal Imager.
Parallel to this upgrade, studies are conducted with the aim to upgrade the whole CV 90 family (CV 9040, CV 90 AD, CV 90 Forward Observer, CV 90 Command Post) starting approximately 2009. Major parts of the studies are:
- · Upgrading of the electronic infra structure.
- · Extension of the video and data network to the chassis.
- · Further digitization of the existing subsystems.
- · New display and control handle for the commander.
- · New display and control panel for the gunner.
- · Improvement of the Fire Control System.
- · Extended BIT.
- · Integration of LEMUR sight.
- · Ability to remotely control the turret from the chassis or via radio.
- · Preparation for integration of IFF- and BMS-system.
- · Preparations for the integration of a new main gun, Bushmaster IV.
