The CV 90AD-TD (Combat vehicle 90 Air Defence – Technical Demonstrator) is the latest system from Bofors Defence that uses MilCAN B. The CV 90AD-TD has an extended capacity compared to the basic version CV 90AD:
- · Firing on the move capacity against air and ground targets.
- · Receiving and transmitting air target data. Its position is accurately updated by the inertial system.
- · The tactical commander has full track of the ground and air environment via the TCS – Tactical Commander Station.
- · A FCC integrated Target Tracker which handles the gunner’s target tracking.
- · Other, none CAN relevant, improvements.
The CV 90AD-TD MilCAN B bus is a synchronous bus with 1 Mbps bit rate. The benefit of using a synchronous bus is that you will always have a deterministic system with no unexpected messages or events.
Improved FCC
The CV 90AD-TD has its own surveillance radar (PS 95) as well as an external air target data link. The FCC handles all target calculations. The targets are PS 95 targets and received target information from external sensors. The key target functions are threat evaluation and target track estimation.
Target Tracker
The target tracker uses the IRV picture to perform the target tracking. The target tracker sends offset data to the FCC which makes the necessary corrections of the gun and sight system to keep the track in the center of the gunner’s sight.
TCS - Tactical Commander Station
The TCS Display shows a digital map and situational awareness data for the tactical commander. The center of the map is the current position of the vehicle which is received from the inertial system.
